The Husga Vow: A Commitment to All Life

The Husga Vow

Our Commitment to All Living Things

The Great English Way is a shared space for everyone—and everything—that lives along it. We operate under the Husga Vow, which is simply our commitment to the protection and care of all living things encountered on the path.

On this route, we believe in leaving things better than we found them. This means:

  • Protecting Wildlife & Nature: Looking out for the animals and plants that make the English countryside unique. We act as guardians of the natural corridors that cross the country.
  • The Way of the Paw: Ensuring our path remains a safe and welcoming space for dogs and the animals who walk beside us.
  • Human Kindness: Treating every person we meet with basic respect and decency, regardless of where their journey started.
  • Restoring the Land: Taking the “disused” and making it “useful” again—whether that’s clearing a blocked trail, restoring a dilapidated building into a sanctuary, or planting a community kitchen garden.

Stewardship in Action We don’t just talk about preservation; we work for it. We are creating roles for Stewards of the Way—local volunteers and travelers who want to help us maintain the trail, grow food in our gardens, and ensure the path remains a safe, beautiful environment for the next person (or animal) who comes along.
